Man and van
Man and van in Hounslow
Three sizes of small job, and one honest ceiling above which a van stops being the cheaper answer.
One item
A sofa, a wardrobe, an upright piano, the freezer out of the garage. Two people and the right equipment, wrapped and strapped exactly as they would be on a full removal. Most of these come from somebody who tried it themselves first.
One room
Out of a shared house, usually, with everybody else staying put. The awkwardness is the shared hallway rather than the volume — in and out without turning the house upside down.
One small home
A studio or a part-furnished one-bed. The whole contents, but not much of it. This is where a van genuinely beats a full removal on cost, provided the kitchen is not full.
And the ceiling
Booking the wrong size is the commonest way a cheap move turns into an expensive one.
- A full two-bed flat. It looks like a van job and becomes three trips across Hounslow, which costs more than the right vehicle would have.
- Anything needing a booked lift and a reserved bay. The building expects a proper crew and proper paperwork; a van turning up unannounced gets turned away.
- A job where fragile things need packing as well as carrying. That is a packing job with a van attached, quoted as one.
- A long run up the M4. One van, one driver, a motorway — a false economy against a properly loaded vehicle.
Describe the job and if it is really a flat removal or a house move, we will say so before quoting.
Man and van — questions
How is it priced?
By the job, from what you tell us and what we see. Not by a clock you have to watch while somebody carries boxes slowly.
Same handling as a full move?
Yes. Blankets in the room, corner protection, floors covered. This is the service where most firms quietly drop the standard.
One person or two?
Depends on the load, the floor and whether there is a lift. Stairs and heavy items want two. We tell you which the job needs.
Packing help?
Materials and a hand with the awkward things. A genuine full pack is a different service and gets quoted as one.
Heston and Cranford?
All of TW3, TW4 and TW5. Parking is the practical constraint, not distance.
Take away what I am not keeping?
No. Clearance and waste carriage need a different licence and it is not a trade we are in.
Something small to move?
Tell us what it is, which floor it is on and where it is going.
