Flat removals in Hounslow

Every flat move starts from the same four lines. Fill them in at the survey and there is very little left to go wrong.

Floor

Which one, and is there a lift

It sets the crew size and the time on site before anything else does. A third floor with no lift is not a harder job than a ground floor — it is a different job, quoted differently.
Lift

Internal depth, width, height; do the doors stay open

A lift that takes a mattress standing up and nothing else is common in the purpose-built blocks here. Knowing the internal dimensions turns a crisis into a load-order decision.
Route

Narrowest door, and the turn at the top of the stairs

Almost always the street door or the half-landing, not the room door. It is what decides whether a three-seater leaves in one piece.
Permissions

Booking system, loading bay, insurance details wanted

Standard in the riverside and canal-side blocks. Several will not admit a crew without seeing cover details first, and the morning of the move is the worst possible time to find out.

When the sofa will not fit

Four answers. None is a disaster; all are cheaper as a plan than an improvisation.

  • 01It comes apart — most modern sofas and all flat-pack wardrobes do
  • 02It goes out through a window with a crew trained for it
  • 03It goes down in a different order, once the plan is rearranged
  • 04It does not come, which is a decision and much easier made in advance

Flat removals — questions

Third floor, no lift?

Ordinary here. It changes crew size and time on site, both of which come out of the survey — which is why we ask the floor before quoting rather than after.

Will the sofa come down?

Sometimes not. There are four workable answers when it will not, listed on this page. A surprise on the morning is not one of them.

Our block wants the lift booked.

Normal in the riverside developments. We speak to the concierge or agent, book the lift and bay for a window, fit the protection required, and build the load order around it.

Insurance details in advance?

Send the building's requirements as early as you can. Several blocks will not admit a removals crew without them.

One room out of a shared flat?

Usually better as a man-and-van job — same wrapping standard, smaller vehicle, priced by the job.
