House removals in Hounslow

Anybody can carry a sofa. What separates firms is the order things go on the vehicle — and that is decided before the first box is lifted.

  1. 01

    Heavy and square, first

Wardrobe carcasses, chests, white goods, anything with a flat back. They go low and forward, against the bulkhead, because everything above and behind them is braced by them. Get this wrong and the rest of the load moves on the first roundabout.

  2. 02

    Boxes, in tiers

Stacked to a height that can be strapped, heaviest at the bottom, each tier tied before the next goes on. Kitchen and books in small cartons — more boxes, but nothing lifted at a weight that invites an accident.

  3. 03

    Soft and awkward, third

Sofas on end where the shape allows, mattresses on edge in covers, rugs rolled rather than folded. They fill the voids the square items leave and they stop anything rattling.

  4. 04

    Fragile and framed, last

Mirrors, pictures and glass go on at the end, upright, cased, strapped against a flat face. Nothing goes on top of them at any point. They also come off first, which is exactly the point.

  5. 05

And the first-night box, on top of that

Kettle, bedding, tools, chargers. Loaded last so it comes off first. A small thing, and the difference between a bearable first evening and a miserable one.

Four kinds of Hounslow house

Terraces, Hounslow Central
Narrow hall, half-landing turn, permit street. The load is small; the logistics are not.
Interwar semis, TW4 and TW5
Driveway, garage, loft. Easy at the kerb and heavy in total — the two spaces nobody counts hold more than the ground floor.
Larger houses, Heston
More volume, more crew, longer carries. Method is identical; the day is longer.
Newer estates
Simple houses, unadopted roads, managing-agent rules about where a large vehicle may stand. Worth checking even when the house is easy.

House removals — questions

Why does load order matter to me?

Because it decides what arrives intact and what you can reach at the other end. A vehicle packed by weight and shape rather than by whoever picks something up next is the single clearest difference between firms, and it costs nothing extra.

What do you need to see before quoting?

Every room, plus the loft, the garage, the shed and the cupboard under the stairs. Video is fine for most Hounslow houses; in person where the access or the volume earns it.

Can you move us on completion day?

Most local house moves are. Completion times slip though — we build in what happens if they do, and storage bridges the gap if the chain breaks.

Beds and wardrobes?

Apart by hand, fixings bagged and labelled to the frame, rebuilt at the other end. Anything already dismantled once is worth mentioning — some of it does not survive a second attempt.

What about the things we are not taking?

They stay. Clearance and waste carriage are a different trade under a different licence. We take our own packing materials away and nothing else.
