Hounslow to Italy

Hounslow to Italy

An Italian move needs permission in three separate places, from three different authorities. Two of them are nothing to do with Italy.

01

On the Hounslow street

Who grants it

The council

A dispensation or a suspended bay for the loading day, exactly as on any local move. Notice is needed, which is why we ask about the road at the first conversation.

02

On the Alpine route

Who grants it

The tunnel operators and the weather

Mont Blanc, Fréjus, the Gotthard and Simplon tunnels or round the coast past Ventimiglia. Each carries restrictions on vehicle size and on what may travel through it, and passes close. The route is chosen for destination, vehicle and season, and the quote says which it assumes.

03

At the Italian address

Who grants it

The comune

Most historic centres are restricted-traffic zones, camera-enforced. Access is arranged in advance for a window on a named day. Where it is not granted, the delivery becomes a shuttle from a legal holding point outside the zone — routine, and routine only because it was raised early.

North, centre, south

The north
Milan, Turin, the lakes, the Veneto. Mostly apartment work and mostly job-related.
The centre
Tuscany, Umbria, Le Marche — the restored farmhouse moves. Unmade approaches and doorways sized for furniture nobody makes now.
The south
The longest road run we make into Italy, and the one that most rewards a shared load.

italy-removals.co.uk in our network is built for this corridor alone and covers the regions in far more depth.

Hounslow to Italy — questions

What is a ZTL?

A zona a traffico limitato — a restricted-traffic zone covering most historic centres, camera-enforced. Access has to be arranged with the comune in advance, or the delivery shuttles from outside it.

Paperwork?

A codice fiscale, proof of the Italian address, evidence you are transferring residence rather than importing to sell, and an inventory matching the load.

Alps or coast?

You get told which the quote assumes and why. Destination, vehicle, season and what the passes are doing all bear on it.

Sicily or Sardinia?

Mainland Italy by road, the full length. Islands add a sea leg — ask and we will say plainly whether we are the right firm.

Shared load?

Yes, and on a route this long it takes meaningful cost out. The trade-off is scheduling.

Moving to Italy?

Send both addresses. If the Italian one is in a historic centre, say so — it is the first thing we check.
